How do I find the average of these numbers?

It’s that the “mean”? Isnt the “average” the biggest number subtracted by the smallest number? So, 5-1=4 if I used your example? I dont know, Im terrrible when it comes to math too.

ok here goes my really bad explanation: find the middle of the group e.g. 11-20 group would be..16? do that with the rest then put it in a seperate box next to it then you need to times the frequency by the middle number of each group put in another box next to it and name fxm then you add that box together and divide by the ..middle group box

so it would be fxm/middle group that will give you your average (:

3 men 11 years old to 20 so if i am right you add the 20 and 11 together which gives you 31 then you divide it by 3 so the average age will be 10.3 recurring…..

no, you need to find the middle of the 11-20 years not add them otherwise you’re getting the next age range

How to find an average

lets say you had 7 numbers 3,7,9,12,15,16,22. What you need to do is add them all then divide them by 7. So the average of those numbers I named is 12.

you can’t do that with this because you dont have a precise frequency

then it would be 15.5, not 16 which i cant see being right :S

Easiest thing to do is just go to mymaths :L
