FBI loses lawsuit based on national security letter, then withdraws

So, three times now the FBI has used a national security letter (NSL) to obtain information, and then was sued and the defendent one, under the grounds that the request was unconstitutional.

And each time the FBI lost the lawsuit, they no longer bothered to collect the data…if it was so important that they had to have it and they used the patriot act authorized NSL’s to make the recipient unable to even talk about the request…isn’t that an indication what they wanted wasn’t even important?

Answer #1

Answer #2

Either that, or they’re trying to hide what they were really looking for. The dont want anybody snooping, so they just drop it. Discontinue the trail of bread crumbs, so to speak.

Answer #3

because if they take it too far more people will find out about em breaking the rules all the time, and that could cause em problems :P
