Why is it so fashionable to have your ears stretched, and what's the correct term for it?

I dont understand why people do it, my older sister has done it, i think shes up to 5 something now, and like my sisters style so, i kinda want to gauge one of my ears now.

I don’t think it’s fashionable, but that is just because I personally think it doesn’t look nice.

Stretching is the term, not gauging. A gauge is a form of measurement, it’s like saying ‘ i’m centimetering my ears’. Stretching is self explanitory, it’s stretching the hole of your piercing. Sorry had to correct that it bothered me. I dunno why it’s so ‘fashionable’ I do it because it’s addicting & I LOVEEE the way it looks. If I were to wake up one morning & they weren’t there, I’d be upset, it’s like a part of me almost. It’s not fashionable to everyone though, most people I know actually think it’s disgusting, like my parents & some of my friends. It’s a trend for some people too, some people are stretching their ears & getting piercings just to follow a crowd, some do it to please themselves, like me. I’m no pro at this but this is how I look at it.

Yeah I gauged my ears because I always wanted them done and I’m finally at double zeros. Idk why a lot of people do it. A lot of rappers started doing it following the rock scene and people followed them its like the question why did rappers start wearing skinnys after calling rockers like me emo? the answer is HYPOCIRSY….and everyone wants to be a hard core rocker in some form.

I want my ears stretched, I think it looks quite cool, but I don’t know if I can as I have had my ears pierced twice, so would it be possible? I mean of course it would be possible, but the holes would have to be quite small wouldn’t they? I get piercings because I want them, not to follow a crowd and I want to, I want my ears stretched but I don’t know if my mum will let me. I’m quite young still, 13 but I will still do it someday.

Yup it’s possible but the more & more you stretch the harder it is to wear anything in your 2nd hole.

Hhhmmmm… maybe I should consider it? Giving up hardly being able to wear earrings in my second hole for my first hole to be stretched….
