Are Facebook accounts really worth having?

All of my friends have one, and I recently moved so I figure it is a good way to stay in touch with my old friends, and talk with my new ones. My mom won’t let me have one. She doesn’t think they are safe, which, yes I can understand that…but then I see like, little 6th graders with Facebooks! What is this world coming to?

Answer #1

to me it isnt i have one and im addicted to it so unless u dont care about getting addicted dont get one but then it is a good way to talk to friends far away and everything

Answer #2

What you just said is funny, because i would have asked this same question a couple years ago i wouldve just changed the word facebook with cellphones. Obviously, times are changing. I didnt have a cell phone until i was 17, i never had texting. I first drove a car 2 weeks before i got my license, which was april. I hate facebook. Stupid. FA? Awesome.

Answer #3

Haha! Oh yes, FA is awesome.

Answer #4

Seeing I moved around a lot as a kid my facebook helped me get connected to friends I had in other cities and what not. People claim everyone who has one is addicted but my cellphone has an app and everything and the most common thing out of my friend’s mouths are didn’t you read my facebook status. Usually I check it once or twice a day but there has been extremely rare times I have been on it all day. I am on here more than facebook.

Answer #5

my 13 yr old has a facebook account. i can adjust his privacy settings etc.

please remember, a lot of parents dislike of ‘new’ things are simply the fact they don’t know about them or don’t understand them.

all you have to remember is ONLY allow people you really know IRL to be on your friends list, photos etc , you can adjust albums to have different levels of security too.

Answer #6

Wellll I’m gonna be honest; Facebook is good for stalking others. You can see who your crush is talking to, or what certain people are up to these days. I like Facebook mostly because it keeps me connected to people, both friends and people I haven’t seen in awhile. So yeah, in my opinion, I think it’s worth having. Very entertaining at the least lol. Just tell your mom how much you want to keep in touch with all your friends and that you can always adjust your privacy settings. Make it clear to her that you’d only add people you know or people that go to your school. Parents can be disapproving of Facebook because of all of the stupid kids that tell everything about themselves on their pages and add people they’ve never met, so let her know you’re not one of those people haha.

Answer #7

I think facebook is great. and that parents are stupid for thinking its unsafe. because yeah strangers can bring up your name but they cant see anything of your profile. they can msg you but you can delete it and block them. its only unsafe if your an idiot who adds random people.. and i find facebook great for keeping in touch with old friends, and friends and family that live far away

Answer #8

it depends on how many friends you have in real life because that way you can see how they’ve changed over the years and you can give them quick wall posts or whatever. You don’t have to go on all the time, but just having it is nice
