What should I expect from High School gym?

I have PE for next semester and I remember always hating gym from back in middle and elementary school. I have no idea if this time around will be any different or better. I hate sports but what should I expect? Don’t they have like gym clothes you’ll have to change into everyday? How different is gym in high school?

Answer #1

Every school is a bit different, but yes, generally you have gym uniforms you must change into at the beginning of the class. At our school we did different sports and activities every couple of weeks, but we had the option to walk laps if we didnt want to participate.

Its different for everyone, in my school you don’t have to wear uniforms as long as you wear something contorble that you can exersize in, but my old school did wear uniforms. Ussually you switch sports depending on the season for example in winter basketball is what is mainly played, so you guys would play that, you will have little games and so on. Also might be that at the biggining you have a test, again its different for everyone, sometimes they make you run to see your speed, push ups, pull ups e.c.t. It all depends, the have this towards the end too.

Im pretty athletic so i loved gym in highschool, especially grade 11 coed, (a chance 2 beat up on the boys hehehe) but if your not into sports chances are you wont like it. Just try to enjoy it and have a more.. “just for fun mentality”. Instead of dreading weather youll do good=) besides gym teachers look more for your ability to play in a team rather than how good of an athlete you are– well atleast some.. =s
