The multinational organization that 27+ member countries in Europe have formed to further the member states political agendas. The most dramatic change the EU has had for member states as well as international travelers, imho, is the simplification of visa & currency related issues for traveling. The euro is now much stronger than the dollar as a currency, as the dollar has fallen comparitively over the last several years when the Euro was introduced.
