Spanish. More than twice as many people speak Spanish as French and Italian combined. As EA said Spanish, French, and Italian are all related Romance (Latin based) languages so after you learn one the others are much easier.

Answer #5

Try and learn a bit of each :D most are kind of the same anyway so it’s easier to learn once you know one other language.

Answer #10

Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the world. Portuguese will help you get along in many places in south America, too. French is fairly widespread, so is German and Italian And Russian (in the eastern European countries).

In most smaller countries in Scandinavia as well as Belgium and the Netherlands, you get along fine with English as well as any of the tongues of the neighboring countries. People in the eastern European countries often speak Russian.

I’d make it depend on which language you find good teachers for in your place. And on what you want to do with the language. Do you just want to learn it? Or do you plan on traveling to where it is actually spoken? If so, for what reasons?

Do you want to go to a foreign University for a year or so? Choose a place that has good universities and learn the local tongue. Do you want to work there for a while? Chose a place where they are looking for people on your favored profession.

Do you just want to learn it. For no reason other than knowing an extra language? Chose one that you find is easy to learn and easy to pronounce. That will give you a fast feeling of success.

Answer #11

Spanish. Its a dominating language and it might come in very handy someday.Second most common language in the U.S. under English :)
