Education for a felon in Texas

1.) What kind of degree and/or certificate can a felon get and keep in Texas? I have been looking into going back to school for a certification in Phlebotomy or even CNA however, when I informed the local college here about my felonies (none drug related) I was told, sure they would take my money for the course however, I could not get certified through the state plus, no agency would want you to be around their patients, (you may steal something) I understand all this. So, what do I do next? I need to find a career course that I can get under two years for I have a baby that I need to support and stay out of trouble for.

2.) Can anyone tell me if I do go ahead and take a course here in Texas for, like phlebotomy or CNA, can I still maybe be certified in California? My felonies are from California, but moved back to Texas after my Son were born. California seems to be more opened minded about people and their past. They are more for “second chances” then they are here in Texas……

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thank you……………………..

Contact a hospital in California and find out which agency would be responsible for certifying you then contact them and find out if your conviction is a hindrance to you getting certified.
