You die one part of your head leaving the other half in a pony tail. And then you dye the other half. It is easier to dye the top section first and then the bottom section. Also part the two sections by following the top of yoyr ear around your head to the other ear. seeing a professional is always best but if thats not an option then remember if your using blonde dye on dark hair to add a no brass packet to the dye. You can find these at any beauty supply store.

You should go to a professional hair salon. There are sectioning patterns when colouring hair that are impossible to do on yourself. Also when you colour half of your hair black, and half blonde, when you wash the black out- it may stain the blonde.
