dwarf p*ssy willow

how can I get cuttings to grow from my friend’s dwarf p*ssy willow?

Answer #1

I saw this described in a magazine recently and wondered how easy it would be. Will definitely try it with my hydrangea and my ninebark… thanks!

Answer #2

To make it even easier… and this works with them and hydrangeas… put a small mound of top or potting soil on the ground next to the plant. Bend down a branch and cover the stem at a leaf with more soil. Place a rock or brick to keep it in place. It will root right there. I have an entire hedge of hydrangeas by having one plant and working my way down the row as each grew. You can also cut the initial stem once it roots and put in a pot for a new, separate plant…

Answer #3

Good luck! Remember to water… sorry forgot to add that.

Answer #4

Oh wow, lol. I didn’t realize they were that easy to root. I’ve done some things like that, e.g. coleus or impatiens.. never tried a shrub. ok, ignore my advice unless you’re trying to root a dogwood…

Answer #5

clip a few soft branches in the morning, (4 to 6 inches long) and remove all the leaves. Dip the ends into some rooting powder, and then plant them in a mixture of vermiculite and potting soil. Cover them with a plastic bag or a glass bottle, that will keep heat and moisture in there.

Keep them in the shade. It could take about 3 months to root.

Answer #6

I usually just root them in a glass of water placed in a window…
