Dry skin, What to use on a toddler?

What’s the best thing to use for dry skin on a child Age (2)?

Answer #1

I would also recomend Baby Oil or Johnson&Johnson lotions since they really make great products for kids. I’d stop using the Vaseleen since that’s probably what’s causing your daughter’s skin to be dry. Just use the Johnson&Johnson products to put in her baths. You should continue to do that.

Answer #2

I tried the johnson onw in the pink, and I think I have aloe lotion 2, I also put that in her bath. I’m kinda thinking its from some other stuff I put in her bath ( intensive care vaseline powder with rose fragrence) could that be making her get dryer skin because of the fragrence?

Answer #3

It depends on the location of the dry skin. If it’s in the diaper/underwear region, you need to use something like A/D ointment. If it’s try lips, use the goopy kind of lip balm made for kids. If it’s dryness elsewhere, use baby lotion, or on the scalp, use baby oil.

Aloe Yes it;s used for burns, but it also heals dry skin. The fresher the better. try it 1_~

Answer #5

I would use Baby Aveeno to get rid of the dry skin, then Johnson&Johnson to keep the extra dry skin away. My daughter used to get heat rash, the Aveeno really helped get rid of it, I use Johnson’s lotion on her in the morning when I get her dressed and the Bedtime lotions at night after her bath. It keeps her skin very soft!

Answer #6

Aveeno has a baby line also! I use Aveeno as an adult and Aveeno for my nephews … it keeps our skin moisturized!

Answer #7

My boyfriend has a 3-year-old daughter and he uses this Johnston’s stuff on her dry skin, it’s in a pink bottle. They have a great line of products that will help :)

The trick is to NOT use baby products. I know that sounds weird but almost all products out there that are “baby” products are made with fragrances, and that is the number one culprit to promote dry skin (and soaps). My 23 month old daughter suffers from severe eczema and constant dry skin/scalp. I use either Cetaphil or CereVe which were recommended by her pediatric dermatologist. CereVe has a lipid in it that is naturally found in skin. Both products make a soap free cleanser, lotion and cream. Be sure you put the cream on right out of the bath while her skin is still wet. On another note if the dry skin is on her scalp and is flakey, you can use any kind of natural oil. Again the problem with baby oil is the fragrance. So you can use plain mineral oil (which is all baby oil is), olive oil etc… it will help break up the flakes. Hope this helps any frustrated parents out there that are constantly battling with dry skin.
