Driving permit/license?

Ok so I live in California right?and well I was wondering do you need to take driving classes?Because moneys tight around my house and we really can’t afford the lessons so can’t I just get someone to teach me how to drive like a relative or friend and then go to the dmv for the test and permit?Also I’m 16 if that helps

well you need to take drivers ed first, like the classroom stuff. you should see if your school offers those classes. I took it online for $40.

then when you complete those classes, schedule behind the wheel classes at a driving school BEFORE you go to take your permit, because you need those forms.

you need a certain number of hours with a certified teacher and a certain number of hours with a parent or guardian.

and 6 months after you get your permit you can go and take your driving test.
