Dreams of falling

I very often have dreams in which I am falling. And it is always from a very high distance out in the open and in nature like falling from a mountain or cliff or just through the sky. It is not a pleasant floating, it’s scary, like I’m falling to my death. It sometimes gets to the point where I suddenly wake up in fright because I was falling so fast. Does anyone know if this kind of dream has any meaning to it?? I keep having them and I don’t like it.

I think that dreams have a meaning at times. Especially reoccurring dreams. To me there are your subconsciousness clearing out your daily ordeals and sometimes helping you face things you find too hard to face when you are awake. I also think the best person to understand your dream is yourself. Mostly because you know intimately what your worries are, what you’ve lived recently and what happened during your day. So it’s really up to you to try and understand your dream.

This being said dreams are symbolic and this can be confusing (ex.: dreaming of dying might be because you’ve started a new life, a big change like death). I tend to rely on my emotions to help me understand a dream. Since you said this dream is not making you feel good then there is probably something in your life that is not making you feel good.

I think dreams about falling that are scary and not fun mean that you are going through a big change that has left you feeling insecure. I used to dream I was falling every night when my parents got divorced. In a way they where “letting me down” and I felt as my “world was crumbling”. It might be that something you’ve counted on has disappeared, or maybe something that has made you feel secure has gone or is broken somehow. For me the falling sensation is one of insecurity and feeling powerless. If there is a situation in your life that makes you feel this way then it might be your subconscious way of dealing with it.

That good news is that in real life we have choices and the power to change situations. Maybe facing up to whatever is bothering you or talking about it can help stop the dreams.

this is totally normal, most people go through it every night, somtimes they can remember it sometimes they cannot, and sometimes, I do, people jump in surprise.

his is the first stage of sleep, out of five stages, he is a description of it:

Stage 1 sleep is light sleep. You experience a drifting in and out of sleep. You can be easily woken up. Your eye movement and body movements slow down. You may experience sudden jerky movement of your legs or other muscles. These are known as hypnic myoclonia or myoclonic jerks. These “sleep starts” can give a sensation of falling. They are caused by the motor areas of the brain being spontaneously stimulated.

You are totally normal, I don’t think it has a meaning, don’t worry!

Hope this helped!

Answer #6

it means nothing and dont believe in dreams ,stop thinking about what you had dreamed .if you believe in god, pray to him befor sleeping

Answer #7

according to my belief, it’s just the devil messing around.. make sure you wash your feet before go to bed… and clear your mind.. :P

Answer #8

I have had this happen but it is what thenameisjess says. I wake up and my body is shaking so it’s just your muscles contracting trying to rest. It’s possible to fall asleep too fast when your muscles aren’t fully relaxed yet.
