Dragon Tree leaves falling out, too dry?

HI, I have a dragon tree (dracaena marginata) (I think it might be a D.concinna though) at home, I’ve had it for about 6 month I guess. The leaves are not falling out, but they go downwards and they used to stick out (I’m not very good in english)…they used to go upwards, for now I’m using a plastic pot, but I heard maybe thoses are no good, what should I use then? I’m thinking maybe its because of the electric heat in the winter, maybe my appartement is too dry? At the store where I bought it, they told me to put it in the shade. Should I spray water on the leaves? Any information would be apreciated, thanks in advance! ann

well a ceramic pot will help it stay cool. and spraying the leaves might help to, it’ll re-hydrate them

Ann, I’m guessing the plant has been overwatered. This plant needs little water and low light. In the winter, when you get even less light, you need even less water. It might have root decay now because of that. I’d suggest re-potting it, just incase. You might find it’s very wet at the bottom.

Plastic pots are fine, as long as you have drainage. Never let it stand in water, so if you see the water come out the bottom, drain it off.

The plant needs to dry out between waterings. So when you do water it, give it a lot, then leave it a couple of weeks. Never just give a little water every day because that only waters the top roots, and the bottom roots will try to move upwards to get the water.

Feel free to funmail me if you want to discuss more!

And one more thing, your English is perfect :)
