There are possibly 12 different blood types for dogs, but 6 are major ones. A percentage of a few breeds of dogs are considered universal donors: greyhounds, pit bulls, boxers, irish wolfhounds, dobermans and german shepherds. Generally, any dog can receive blood from an universal donor.
