Religion or not, just watch this video. Wrong is Wrong http://www.peta.org/feat/ChineseFurFarms/index.asp

And we buy these items to keep there market going.

Answer #2

I also read that they will hook there nose and paws and keep them like that for a day or so, so that they bleed out and become more attractive to the shark.

Answer #3

yes I have heard this and I agree its sick and disgusting. I would like to throw the people doing this out there in the water and drag them behind the boat for shak bait. the would is full of nasty horrid people. so sad my love.

mikeh - I am a vegetarian and do not condone cruelty to any living creature. I do not believe or support “cultural” cruelty and do not believe it as an excuse for such. Finding fault in another’s treatment of animals does not imply or state that the U.S. is guilt-free in it’s treatment of animals. Most of my answers regarding animal treatment refer to the horrible factory farming that occurs here. Also, I am not talking about affection for animals. I am talking about the humane treatment of animals. Humane respect has no boundaries and transcends borders and cultures.

Answer #5

Again, there is nothing in that link that verifies live dogs are being used as bait. The only thing that comes close is that strays are culled. Fishermen on the island use dog meat on hunting platforms. They do not drag live dogs behind boats on hooks.

And condemning a culture because their attitude towards animals differ from yours is painfully ethnocentric. Affection for dogs is largely a western attitude and is not shared the world over. Affection for a certain type of animal is culturally ingrained; it is not a universal moral truth. We protect dogs but eat cows. In India, you would be a monster for doing so. So please refrain from throwing too many stones.

Answer #6

Did you actually read the article? The photo is purported to be a fake, and the practice of using dogs as shark bait ‘are generally dead animals picked up on roadsides.’

What’s sick about using a dead animal to lure in fish? That’s more than the nightcrawlers get.

Answer #7

I read the link and yes a few fishermen are using both dead and live dogs as bait. People are sick and many view animals as less than a blade of grass. Have you looked up the plight of the raccoon dogs in China…skinned alive to make coats sold in stores across our country…

Answer #8

I heard that :[ they better not use my dog when it dies! its sick but apparently some people are starting a group to go against it, they’re using cats too :[

Answer #9

that is just a sad sad article…from my understanding they generally (meaning not always) used dead dogs, but is does say they used unwanted strays too…I don’t see anything fake about that poor dog with a hook thru its snout.. :( …I cant believe people could be so cruel

Answer #10
