Dog gagging

Help!! I have a mutt about eight years old. We feed her probably more than we should. Shes gagging like really really loud and it seems like shes trying to cough something up and its not working!!! We dont feed her small bones or chicken bones that could get caught in her throat so we dont know why this is happening. I was outside seeing her a minute ago and she gagged up some white stuff it was like foam. But shes rabies vaccinated. Please help my baby doggie!!!

I agree with phrannie, I did the hymlick manuever on a puppy before…but you have to know what your doing, when you do that on a small animal…mine was a chihuahua baby…he was ok after I did that…in your case, if your dog is constantly chocking, I would take him/her to the vet or emergency vet…asap ! dichihuahua

Again…VET…except in this case…EMERGENCY VET!…this isn’t something I’d play around with…just doing constant gagging and trying to expel whatever is in her throat or esphegous could cause something to rupture…

When a dog seems to be coughfing or choking, you may try stroking him or her on the throat area until there seems to be some relief. If it continues you should take him or her to your local vetenary for exam. Good Luck!

That’s actually a problem that results in Dog Obesity. When your dog does that, is it usually when she plays? I have seen this happen MANY times, but remember to take your dog to the Veterinary office to be checked. She also needs to be weighed to make sure she’s healthy for her size/Breed(s). I don’t think this would result in needing to call or go to an Emergency Vet, but if she is actually throwing up, having diarrhea, labored breathing, etc, take her to the vet ASAP. There are endless possibilities this kind of thing could add up to. Don’t take the risk, you’d probably feel horrible if something happened to your dog, and you care a lot about your dog, so you don’t deserve that.

Any update on this? I hope your dog is ok.
