Does protesting really help accomplish anything?

Don’t get me wrong,i’m all about speaking for our rights.

But seriously, when was the last time the government stopped what they were doing, simply because we made anti whatever signs??

I don’t know…maybe the right protest hasn’t come yet.

To me, the best way to effect change is to ‘fire’ the politician (ballot box) if he/she is not following the people’s desires - and while they are serving, CALL them and make your views known - this worked just 2 months ago when the Legislative and Executive branch attempted to ram ‘amnesty bill’ down the people’s throat - the people spoke up - it was stopped dead in it’s tracks - we should hold their feet to the fire to ensure they do what is best in the interest of the American people.

Vietnam ended because of all of the protests. The Civil Rights movement happened because of all of the protests. The Catholic church survived in Poland and Russia during WWII because of protests. The key to a proper protest is to expose the evil for what it is, and not back down. I think in order for people to be willing to fight for what they believe, they have to be passionate about it, and unfortunately, most of us in the US are apathetic, and do not care just as long as it doesn’t effect us. In other parts of the world protests are an important way of life.

I often feel the same way. Like anything said or done about this corrupt President goes unnoticed. He has gotten away with senselessly murdering millions of people, and other presidents were impeached for having oral sex. It’s so backwards to me.

I think a bit of the problem is the lack of protests of the masses. There are tons of little protests here and there that are pretty easy to ignore. But if we had millions of people marching in Washington, it’d be much harder to ignore. I know China recently had some huge protests occur, with thousands of young people. I wonder why Americans are so apathetic. Perhaps the video games, junk food, and brainwashing about WMDs and nuclear weapons that don’t exist.

Now I’m ranting. But yes, I wish the government would listen more too.

Yeah, whining doesn’t accomplish anything. Please relay this message to the next Democrat you see.

Answer #5

I think it does, because it makes people more aware of what is going on around them and thats a good thing.
