Does my friend like me?

This is a bit long, sorry. If you actually read all of this, I’ll be impressed. And if you’re ‘too lazy’, just get over it and read it anyways.

Okay, there’s this guy. We’ve known each other for, like, 9 years, and we’re super close and best friends, although he doesn’t really act like it. We’re pretty much opposites. (I’m really friendly and perky, and he’s all serious and grumpy.) He has his own room at my house, a key, and is like part of the family when he stays over (which is usually at least 4 nights a week). I sort of catch him staring at me a lot and he seems to dislike when I hang out with my other guy friends. He usually acts like I really annoy him with my perkyness. I know he really does care about me by the way he (subtly) acts though. But I’m not sure in what way he cares about me. Maybe he just thinks of me as a little sister (cause he’s about two years older than me) or something…I don’t really know. We have tons of pics that you can tell that he only went to the place and did whatever we were doing because of me. We always go to dances and parties together (Mostly cause I drag him there, but he also makes sure we’re going most of the time.). My friends says he does like me, but I’m really confused. And I don’t know if I should ask him if he does cause if he doesn’t it’ll totally ruin our friendship. I also (just) noticed he’s always going out of his way to do special things for me, but it could just be friendly gestures, since we ARE best friends. And I think I like him, but I’m not sure. Please help…

EDIT: And on the phone today, he said he thought I was perfect. After that, he made sort of an ‘oh crap’ sound and was all quiet (more than usual) after that.
