Does anyone here not know how to ride a bike? I learnt yesterday!

Answer #1

I never had training wheels either but I didn’t get my first bike until I was 5. I had no problem taking off but nobody told me how to use the coaster brake so I had to grab a fence to stop

Answer #2

My husband (then boyfriend) taught me. He was going to rent a house on the other side of town in our second year of university, and the only way I was going to get to visit him was if I finally learned! That was quite a good incentive. I was seriously wobbly for a long time and I still go slowly, but I cycle just about every day now.

I worked most of my way through college in bike shops and we had several adult customers who never learned to ride as children.

I was able to teach every one of these customers how to ride a bike. I lowered their seat until they could touch the ground with both feet and I took off the pedals. We’d go to the top of a long gentle hill nearby and let them coast down the hill. When they realized that they could lift their feet up and ride down the hill we’d put their pedals back on and let them coast down with their feet on the pedals. Then we’d raise their saddle closer to its normal height and show them how to get on and off the saddle.

The only person I failed to teach to ride was my ex wife. I had no trouble with strangers but I couldn’t teach her to ride.

I have been riding for years, since I was 7 or so. until recently I have been riding a cruiser, one speed, not technical at all. my husband purchsed a new mountain bike for me. the handlebars are so low that I feel as if I am going over the front and the many gears are throwing me for a loop. boo hoo, I want my old, out of style bike back…

Answer #12

I learnt to ride a bike without training wheels when I was 5, 6, or 7. I was about 4 when I learnt to ride with training wheels.
