can anybody tell me about documentaries on world war II made by Germans??

If you are fed up with it then why do you watch it. Why not watch something more positive.

You’re not likely to find many that support the Nazi’s…even Germany isn’t proud of that part of their past. You might find something by searching that was done and produced during the Third Reich…that would be over proud of the youth or the party…but chances are, you won’t find anything produced after WW II.

There are a lot of documentaries about WW2 in German, and some of them have English subtitles.

Alle Juden raus (All Jews Out) is a documentary where they interview Jews living all over Europe and the US about their memories of the Holocaust.

Im toten Winkel : Hitlers Sekretarin is a documentary about Hitler’s secretary, Traudl Junge. She talks about what it was like to work for Hitler, the time period, etc.

Jenseits des Krieges is another good one that interviews soldiers from the war.

“Eye of the Third Reich” is a documentary that has the pictures taken by Hitler’s personal photographer, and a lot of interviews about Nazi war propaganda.

“How the Nazis Came to Power” by Derrien is a really excellent documentary about the German defeat in the First World War, the German economic depression, and all the circumstances that resulted in the rise of the Nazis. It’s also in German, but has English subtitles.

Triumph des Willens (Triumph of Will) is interesting, it’s a documentary that Hitler made (or ordered to be made) as an official record of the 1934 Nuremberg Nazi Rally. Really amazing…

Also, I know Americans are fascinated by the Second World War, but there are also a lot of really good German documentaries about the Berlin Wall, the division of East and West, etc.
