Do doctors fall in love with their patients?

i have a feeling my doctor is in love with my friend? she’s 18 and he’s like twice as old as she is..

Answer #1

I highly doubt it, its completely unprofessional, but never say never, theres always a slight chance.

Answer #2

They aren’t allowed to as far as I am aware. If they do fall in love, they should out of professional and ethical interest stop treating the patient.

Answer #3

i might be wrong but from my obsrvations..well, she isn’t allowed to date since shes a muslim because they have arranged marriage .not the point but maybe its the way she is..shes so pollite//when he enters to check on me she stands up and says “hello” and he comes in smelling nice and dressed nice and he shakes our hands..i had this doctor for a long time and he never shakes hands or smells all nice and he always wears plain shirts till the day he met my friend he stared at her alot shook her hand again when we leave and then the next visit he wears all nice.. i used to go alone to him and i would wait patiently for 20-min now i c him constaly on the front desk and he calls me in himeslf when he see’s her..i can go on and on ..thats why i asked this Q

Answer #4

Of course they could because Doctors also have love and feelings.

Answer #5

A doctor is a human and, therefore, prone to human emotions such as love. Is your friend one of his patients as well, or are you the only one? If she is his patient, then he won’t be permitted to act upon his feelings.

Answer #6

If they fall in love with a patient, then they are supposed to send that patient to another doctor and have their relationship be private.

Doctors aren’t supposed to treat their own family, too. Because they might get emotionally over-strained or they might not have the neutral, professional point of view. Of course they will help their family or their love if there is no one else around who can do it, and it is an emergency.

But if it is a planned surgery or any routine treatment, or even if other doctors are around in an emergency, then usually the doctor who is related to the patient is not involved and the other doctors do it.

Answer #7

watch Grey’s Anatomy. That has your answer.

Answer #8

Yupp I Seen it on Lifetime.

Answer #9

There is something called the ‘Florence Nightingale Effect’ where doctors fall in love with their patients because of caring for them. It’s a sexual or emotional attraction. Of course, humans are humans and you can fall for anyone.

Answer #10

It is possible, but it is a gross violation of professional ethics. An ethical doctor will insure that they do not get in that predicament.

Answer #11

Of course, doctors are humans, they fall in love. Doing anything about it is a violation of ethics. And depending on the relationship, many times it’s simply an issue of counter transference. Which is really not love.

Answer #12

Yeah I guess they can..but they souldnt and if they do they should stop seeing the patient!!!!!!!

Answer #13

it can be because doctors do have feelings but it needs to be expressed in a wright way. instead of creating problems as he is double the age of the girl
