Do you think Dubya will listen?

BAGHDAD - Iraq’s prime minister said Monday his country wants some type of timetable for a withdrawal of American troops included in the deal the two countries are negotiating.

It was the first time that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has explicitly and publicly called for a withdrawal timetable — an idea opposed by President Bush

On May 24th 2007 Bush said “ We are there at the invitation of the Iraqi government. This is a sovereign nation. Twelve million people went to the polls to approve a constitution. It’s their government’s choice. If they were to say, leave, we would leave. “

Do you think when they actually ask us to leave (which they most definately will), Bush or McCain would listen?

I think if it is up to Bush, there is no way he would leave. He would find some national security purpose to keep our troops there.

What we have to understand is, that in the best interest of the United States and the rest of the FREE world we shoudl not leave Iraq unit that nation has a very positive control of their country. This may sould not good to many but here the truth for a moment. Iraqi produces 2.4 million barrels of oil a day at $145.00/barrel. 348 million/day. $125,280,000,000 a year. Terrorist survive in two manners simpthy and MONEY. If we allow them control of the oil wells in Iraq, we allow them the uncontralably means to weapons ammuniton and guns for higher. As a soldier who has done five tours (1 Afgan, 4 Iraq) as an infantry soldier and special tasking units, I would rather get shot(I have been twice), blown up(7 times) in the war over there than to have any fellow American experience another 9/11 or be blown up driving their kids to school. I don’t think we should leave but I do believe when can draw down to a very small unit consisting of a tenth of the forces there now.

Bush will leave when HE wants to leave and not a day before… McCain might use it as a graceful way to talk about troop withdrawal and not go against the current administration for campaign purposes. Bush won’t leave, no how, no way, until HE is ready to leave.

cav_daddy1, As amoeba said, Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and our continued occupation will not prevent another one. And there zero chance of terrorist taking over in Iraq. I too appreciate your service, but having been there you must clearly understand that al qaeda is a sunni organization, and the majority of Iraqis are shia. There is no way the iraqis would ever let AQ get a foot hold in their country. Just as saddam never let them in before.

Oil is no reason to keep our people their getting killed and wounded. The Iraqis know why we are there (oil), and they resent us for it, and want us to leave. Are you suggesting Bush wasn’t telling the truth when he said we will leave if they ask us to?

9/11 was in no way connected to Iraq. The majority of the 9/11 terrorists were from Saudi. Fifteen of the attackers were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt, and one from Lebanon. None from Iraq.

I appreciate your service to our country but do not believe that we should have gone into Iraq. My son also served and he says…Afganistan - yes. Iraq - no.

Again, thank you for doing your job and serving your country. I might not support the war, but I support the soldiers.
