How to find my DNS servers?

how cani find my primary and my secondery DNS Servers

Answer #1

acually you go to start, run, type in cmd, then a black screen will come up with about 2 lines of white letter, don;t click or type anything except ipconfig, and then the primary DNS will be called the default gateway

Answer #2

The fastest way is to contact your ISP who will know it right off

Also, if you are experienced, logging into your router page (if your’e using a router) will allow you to see your DNS settings (or listed as Name server address Prim. & Sec.)

there’s a command ipconfig/all as well but it can be tricky to do the last two things..simply call your isp and they will tell you.

Answer #4

it dont work if you are useing router, to find the correct dns you have to log in into the router eg. bsnl 192.168.1.1 admin, password admin, you find the correct dns in advance setting of router, if you use cmd and ipconfig I will show that DNS is your router ip address eg 192.168.1.1 which is not a correct DNS

Answer #5

Go to start run and type ipconfig and it will be called your defult gateway.

Answer #6

If anybody is using router or modem/router, the best way is to login into modem or router and check in the settings for the DNS server’s address.

If anybody is using router as an access to the internet, and if they will do ipconfig (in windows) in cmd (command prompt) they will only find out their computer’s DNS address, but not the router’s DNS address.

Let’s say: Somebody has network IP address: 192.168.1.65 (or similar) and router’s IP address is: 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.1 (depends on the router) their computer’s DNS IP address ussually will be router’s IP address.

ussually router’s or modem’s DNS IP address is external (not from private network, where starts 192.168.xxx.xxx / 172.16-31.xxx.xxx / 10.xxx.xxx.xxx)!!

So, if you can’t find out what address belongs to your router’s DNS, best way is to call your ISP (internet service provider).
