What are disadvantages of having a weasel or ferret as a house pet?

Answer #1

Well if they r anything like ferrets it will b like havein a 2 yr old runnin around, and they don’t sleep at night I don’t think

Answer #2

For one, they are very active, sneaky, and troublesome animals. They need a lot of attention and care; you can’t leave them unattended unless you want to come back to a complete mess. They need a lot of space, and playtime. Leaving them caged up for long periods of time can lead to them being very destructive (messing up litter trays, scattering food, spilling water, biting on their cages, etc…)

Another thing is, they smell. No matter how much you bathe them, and keep them clean… they will still have a strong natural odor that doesn’t smell pleasant at all to most people.

A few other disadvantages are:

They are difficult to train. They poop A LOT and not all can be litter-trained. They are more expensive to take care of than the average pet.

Answer #3

and also depending on where you live most states require permitts to own a ferret. But if you really want an animal a ferret takes responsibility just like if you got a puppy, but if your willing to deal with smell and cleaning the cage and giving it attention (just like any other animal you would get) then they are amazing pets! Trust me I have one and if trained properly they are super friendly. :) hope this helped.

Answer #4

they stink and if you forget to feed them they die and rot, then they stink more. lol
