Do you believe digital art is easier and taking away from traditional art?

I mean in programs like photo shop you can download a brush of any texture you want. I believe it takes some of the skill out of it. Yes you can argue you need some know how on composition, color ect. to create a good piece of art with or without digital media but i believe digital media is taking from the hard learned skill traditional artist studied for years. What are your opinions?

Answer #1

Digital art is nice, but I wud rather have something hand done

Answer #2

Well digital art is actually VERY difficult, a lot of my friends do that with screen caps of TV show episodes and honestly just tinting a little thing takes over 45 minutes.

Me, I just think they’re different types of art. There’s sketching, painting, etc…and then there’s digital art. Making nice things on photoshop is actually a hard learned skill, lol, so I don’t think it’s taking from anything. It’s just different.

Answer #3

Yes. Soooooo much! I know photography can be really impressive too, but it’s like more and more people have photos instead of paintings on their walls…

Answer #4

well personally ive done digital art pieces and it takes me only 45 mins to paint something as opposed to weeks traditionally

Answer #5

Digital art is also as difficult. It’s using a different media to work with. For digital art you are best off with a tablet and most people don’t have that so they find it hard, plus you still need to find where the light is coming from, vanishing point and shade which is harder than you think when you’re using a computer.

Answer #6

also a lot of my friends take about a week minimum on a piece of art work and they look so realistic and watching how they do it is more complex than on a piece of paper I think.

Answer #7

Well i do both digital and traditional art and i find digital so much easier

Answer #8

yeah i kinda believe digital art is taking away from traditional art even though digital art is difficult too, but not as difficult and time consuming as traditional art is.
this can be seen on many types of craftsmanship too as new modern industrial techs(buitl solely for mass production) r replacing traditional art. for example: one i can think of right now is the art of sword making. if u talking abt photography more than i think the point and shoot digital cameras that u get r really taking the art away. i had taken photography class and i found that u get more satisfaction when ur negatives get developed properly and print a good pic then compared to a photo printed from a digital camera in a few secs.
