Is there a difference between a "pet peeve" and a "habit"?

My friends and I have been talking about Habits and the word “Pet Peve” came to mind and I was unsure if there was a difference or not.?

Answer #1

Pet peve is something someone else does that really gets on your nerves, like when you little sister sings. And a habit is something you do without thinking because you do it so much like walking into rooms without knocking.

Answer #2

Definitely. A pet Peve is something that gets under your skin. Like when people use the word “literary” when its not necessary.. A habit is just what somebody does. Like chew on their fingernails. But a habit can be someone else’s pet peve

Answer #3

A pet peeve is something that annoys you. A habit is a routine of behavior that’s repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. So yes, there is a difference.
