Depression help

So.. Im depressed.. I think. Yeah a lot of people say they are but.. I dont know. Im not the typical depressed. No one would be able to know by looking at me or hanging out with me. I’ve become very good at hiding everything. I feel like I need to talk about it, but 1. I always chicken out at the last second when I go to talk about it and 2. No one believes me because I’ve hid everything so well. I dont know what to do.. Im not suicidal. My mom thinks im lying when I tell her, or being overdramatic. I know im not.. Im 17 and I feel like im mature enough to realize im sickly. My dad lives 800 miles away and I feel like he wouldnt know how to handle it, other than tell me to turn to god (im agnostic, and not really religious). Help me.. Please. What should I do?

There’s no such thing as the typical depressed. Most people who are depressed do not show obvious signs of it. I’m not sure I understand. Either you’ve talked to people (which means you havent chickened out ALL the time) and they dont believe you, or you haven’t talked to people. If you have talked to people, obviously you’ve talked to the wrong people. Consider seeking help from a mental health professional.

I think that you should talk to your mother again and let her know that you feel depressed. If you feel like you need to talk about it, ask her if you can talk to a doctor or see a counselor. Let her know that you’re serious, and that you’re NOT trying to be over dramatic. Keep trying until she listens. If you’re in school, check to see if your school has a counselor available. Don’t give up on it.
