How can I defrost frozen chicken breasts quickly?

I have a completely frozen set of chicken breasts….Is there a fast way to thaw them out? They’re already sitting in warm water.

Answer #1

Chicken is one of my favourite meats to defrost. It is water friendly and would defrost in minutes under running water. More fast with warm water but not hot. Same for pork but never beef.

Answer #2

Renaldo is right, it needs to be running water, and definitely not too hot. Other than that, you could put it in the oven at like 200 degrees for about 30-40 minutes.

Answer #3

Nest time, if you want to keep either chicken or meet of pork, the best way of storing it is cutting them into small pieces before it is kept in freezer. you will have it easier to defrost. If it is already that hard and you rush for fast cook, no other way but steam it. running water or warm water will not work as fast as steaming.

Answer #4

i know for sure running it under cold water is better and that includes pork and beef, never under warm water or hot..

Answer #5

I stand corrected! Sometimes i just get impatient.

Answer #6

There are 3 safe ways of defrosting meat:

  1. In the refrigerator (slow method)
  2. Under cold running water (not warm, not hot - always cold)
  3. In the microwave (quickest method, but should be used only if you are intending to prepare the chicken immediately.) Any other method causes the chicken to be held in the food temperature danger zone for too long which quickens the growth of bacteria and the possibility of food-borne illness.

Answer #8

Answer #9

Answer #10

i am a bit ocd when it comes to defrosting meat/chicken. i dont know if the running under the tap method is actually safe? i dont want to frighten anyone but i think chicken is the easiest food to get food poisoning from if not defrosted or cooked properally. i tend to decide the day before when i want to eat chicken and take it out of the freezer and leave in the fridge overnight. and i put it on a plate with tin foil covering it but not tightly. and just before cooking it the following evening i rince it under the cold tap and pat it dry with kitchen towel. am i being too ocd? i dont want to stress you out.

Answer #11

no dont do this its the fastest way to get food posioning, and the same for pork r u mad :)

Answer #12

Put them next to a good looking rooster.

Answer #13

If you want to stirfry them you can cut them up frozen and add them directly to a hot pan….they’ll still cook fast from frozen!
