How can I date my brother's best friend without hurting my brother?

I’m dating my neighbor/brothers best friend but he is my age and i don’t know how to tell him or my parents about our relationship without hurting him. We really like eachother and we don’t want to hide our realationship. My brother sits near us at school so he’d see us there. If we tell my parents, then they won’t let him spend the night while i’m there and it would be more akward for him to come over when i’m not there. I really don’t know what to do, and not being a couple at school is really hard but we are a couple outside of school. Advise anyone??

There is no way easy way to tell your brother about you dating his best friend. I’m sure it’s all going to be very awkward, haha, so prepare yourself. First, I would ask him nicely to listen to everything you have to say before he says anything, and then express exactly how you feel towards his best friend. Just tell him everything. If he’s mad or upset and doesn’t want to listen anymore, then just remove yourself from the situation. At least you tried. It might be a good idea for all three of you to hang out together one day to make things less weird. I’m sure your brother is probably going to be afraid he’ll lose his best friend over this, so make sure that your soon-to-be boyfriend keeps hanging out with him & stuff. (If your brother is really protective over you, then that’s a different story, haha). One part I find confusing in your description is the whole sleepover thing. If him and your brother are best friends, how would it be awkward for him to sleepover when you’re not there? I don’t get that part.
