Covering dark hair

I dyed my hair black and am now ready to have it lighter again. Do I have to bleach it or will a color work at all?

yeah. I have mine blond on top and dark brown on the bottom. I went and got mine done and my har was dark before I dyed it and they had to bleach it. depending on where you go and how much you have done, its expensive.

In order for another color to show up, you will probably need to have the black stipped. Go to a salon for this, because it is a very damaging process. If there is a beauty school at your local community college or one in your town, call them. They are always needing their students to have people to learn on, and the instructors are right there and you get what you need done a for a lot less money than in a salon. Hope it goes well. Be sure to get your hair in as good as condition as you can before the color strip. You might want to try some deep conditioning packs. You can get them at any drug store for just about a dollar.
