Curious about my dog

After you get a boy dog fixed do they always get so fat?

Answer #1

It all depends on the breed I think. My aunt has a puggle (part beagle part pug) and she recently got him fixed and he is a chunky puppy!

Answer #2

No…they don’t. All dogs, as they mature, get less active…a fixed dog isn’t feeling the need to “travel” to meet girls…so needs to have it’s exercise increased, and it’s food decreased…Most dogs are fixed while still puppies and growing, once the growth rate has stopped, then the food must be decreased…fixed or not.

Just like people, the only way to lose weight or maintain weight is to burn the calories that are taken in.

I’ve never had a fat “fixed” dog…

Beagles are not to be trusted.

Answer #4

Phrannie’s the real dog expert, o you should contact her.

In my experience, not all dogs gain weight, but you have to keep them active… just as with people.

Answer #5

My daschund didn’t, but he’s a wild child! [¤= he gets lots of exercise! Even mostly staying the house, guess he has a pretty fast metabolism. If he is exercised regularly, no table scraps, he should be fine.

Answer #6

MOST LIKELY BUT IT SHOULDN’T LAST LONG AS LONG AS you PLAY WIT your DOG EVERYDAY OUTSIDE THAT SHOULD MAKE HIM a lot MORE SKINNY AND MORE ACTIVE AS HE GET OLDER

Answer #7

ashbobash is right on the breeds…so do take that into account…Pugs, Labs, Rotties, Beagles, and a few other breeds are more prone to obesity than others…so need to be fed even less food.
