How can I create this IF statement on Excel?

What I need to do is make an IF statement which will allow a cell (x) to have a value whereby if one cell (y) has been filled and has a value, that value will be in cell x. Or if another cell (z) has been filled in and has a value, that value you will be in cell x. Is this possible? And if it is how do I do it? Any help would be appreciated.

I’m not quite sure I’m understand what you want to do correctly but it seems that you could do this with a combination of the IF function and the ISblank function. Use the IF function to test if the cell is blank or not, putting the ISblabk function into the IF functions first argument. Then in the of functions second argument put what you want to happen if the cell is blank, which I think you leave blank if I understood you correctly. And then in the if functions third argument make it return the cell’s value.
Something along the lines of If(is blank(z), , z)

I’ll try it out, if that fails its probably best to ask my teacher. Thanks anyway
