Court hearings boyfriend vs girlfriend

Can anybody tell what to expect in a court hearing, the case involves simple assult, this is my first time going through this. The plantiff is my ex- boyfriend. I’m the defendent because he had some straches on his neck and hands, so they locked me up because he called the cop first. I wasn’t in jail long because it’s not serious, but how long will hearing be? Do anybody know a situation like this?

Ask your lawyer!! That´s what they are there for. Obviously they probably ask same basic question surrounding the day and the event. Then they´ll try to proove that you were the instigator. Most court hearings aren´t very long because of the amount of cases they have to sift through in a day. I´d guess an hour or two tops. Also normaly you have a preliminary court hearing, where a lawyer is assigned to your case and the court date is set with the accusation. This last like 15 minutes. Either way, go see a lawyer or look for some free legal aid organizations in your area. Ask the cops if you don´t know where to get the information.
