How to get my parents to allow me to have counseling?

I k now I need counselling for depression. I’ve been told so by proffessionals. but my parents just said that going to see the professional was a waste of time. I know I cant see a professional outside school because my dad works too late to take me, but theres a counselling program for this sort of thing at my school, but the problem is your parents have to write a letter from your parents to have the sessions. how can I get the sessions/get my parents to write a letter?

Try talking to your parents, and telling them that you feel you may benefit. Even put a timeline on it, say 10 sessions. If you feel you are getting no where by then, you’ll give it up. What do they have to loose by writing a note for you? Worst case, you find out that it doesn’t help you. Best case, it helps.

I avoided councelling and ended up on medication and doing some things I wish I hadn’t. You (and your parents) have nothing to loose

you need to tell that that couselling is helping you, and that despite what they think youd really like to continue with it. if it helps you that should be letting you go keep telling them that you really want to continue with it

Answer #3

Have someone else tell your parents you need the sessions? Also they may not understand how you feel, try talking to them and explaining how you feel. Also you obviously need some help, what are they hoping, it will go away on it’s own? Therapy is the best aid for moderate to mild depression…
