Could I be pregnant on Depo?

Hi, I was on DEPO about a year ago, I didnt gain weight back then, I actually lost some, but I’ve been on it again for about 9 months now, and I’ve gained a lot of weight this time around. my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex about a month ago. Could I be pregnant? Or could it just be a bad time around on Depo? Would a home pregnancy test work for me? Or would it read that im pregnant even if im not?

Dear coednaked911, The only way to know for sure is to take a pregnancy test. If it reads positive then see your doctor; they will do more testing. Any time you have unprotected sex the risk for pregnancy is very, very high. Even birth control is not 100% safe so always use a condom for extra protection from pregnancy as well as STDs. Your extra weight could be from the Depo…find out for sure if you are pregnant now. Sue…good luck
