Would the connotations of a song be a legitimate reason not to listen to it or like it?

Excuse my iffy use of the word connotation but this has been bugging me a bit. If you’re wondering which song in particular I’m referring to it’s called Lilium that’s usually asѕociated with the anime “Elfen Lied.” Hopefully the embedding works.

I dont think that it could be a legitimate reason. If you dont like the genre of the music then i think thats legitimate not to like it. But if your favourite band put out a song and you didnt like the connotations, would you change your view of the band?

I’m not too concerned with the genre here. Just what the song is being associated with. I used “Lilium” as an example because it’s a magnificent piano melody BUT it’s a part of an anime that for all intents and purposes, is extremely dark in nature. But to answer your question about the band, it’s hard to say, I have mixed feelings about this melody and it’s hard not to associate “Lilium” with “Elfen Lied.” That’s kind of the pickle I am in, I worded the question poorly :( I apologize if I wasn’t too clear :/

if you dont like what is being associated with the song then I think your entitled to that. Its how you feel about the song. If the song is associated with something your against then thats fine. Im sure you can find someting else that “Lilium” is associated with. Sorry im not real good at answering your question. :(
