Why is my computer taking so long to load?

try defragging it :) or run a program like c cleaner

How long have you had it?

Less than a year.

It could just be a slow connection to the server, but we had the same problem and it turned out to be a virus.

5mins to connect to teh internet :O update the modem/router drivers to the latest.

when you say the vista thing on the right i take it you mean that column which contains all that useless stuff like weather and the date/time etc etc? which most are connected to teh internet.

try disabling them all - restart and see if its improved. if it has theres your problem

How do I update the router thingy? When I said computer I meant laptop, does that still have a router?

its like when you keep adding and deleting stuff the computer stores the information where it can so some of the files get split up and saved in different places so when it tries to load stuff its looking around for the bits in short go to google and type in “defraggler” and go to the free download then run it =)

how is teh lappy connected to the com? normally if you just run windows update and check the software/optional downlaods it finds ;)

ive got ti on mine and it didnt but you could always scan it before you open it :P
