Which do you think is more commonly accepted in society - body/face piercings or tattoos?

Personally I think piercings are generally more accepted, at least where I live. A lot more people are getting them nowadays then they are tattoos. Don’t get me wrong, tattoos are booming in my town but more people seem to accept a tiny nose stud than a tattoo. Also heaps of people are getting piercings even though they aren’t into body modification, take my Mum and Nan for example. Today’s society seems, to me, more able to accept a couple studs here and there rather than some permanent ink.

It depends what kinda tattoos and how many tattoos vs how many piercings and where the piercing are concentrated. I just find more extensive amounts of tattoos than crazy body piercings. lol the guy with the mutilated face will probably be accepted less than my uncle who’s got tattoos all over his arms and legs.

I mean just one tattoo vs. one piercing.

Depends on who you ask nowadays. I’d say tattoos, others would say piercings. When I got my (one) tattoo back in 1986, It was a big deal. I got it on my upper right arm and made sure I could cover it with a short sleeve T- shirt if I wanted to. (for a job interview or something) Now, things have so changed. I don’t think people are judged near as much as they were back then. I like tattoos, but people should use their head when they get them. Remember Amy Whinehouse? Her tats looked terrible, poorly placed, ect. Piercings? I think some look ok when done tastefully, but others are just ridiculous. I mean how can a person take you seriously when it looks like you went fishing, then fell face first into a tackle box?
