college

so my mom doesnt want me to go to college because she knows that what I really want and she hates to see me happy. I know it sounds crazy but its true. my GPA is 3.75 out of 4.0 I get mostly A’s and B’s in school I really want to become a doctor. but I know that I will never be able to do that without college. she told me on many times that she’s not going to sign anything papers for me to get into college. I am graduating in may of 2009 and im scared. I know I have to fill out the FASA froms to finincial aid because I have no money. and my parents arent going to help me. what should I do? is there a way that I can get financial aid without my parents tax information? will I be able to go to college without my parents signing any papers .

Your school counselor should be able to guide you on the process for applying for financial aid or other options that may be available to you. You can also approach some of your relatives that might have a bit of spare cash who can help be your guarantor if you could not get on a loan or other aid.

Hmm I know nothing about financial aid, but couldnt you talk to your guidance counselor about it? or maybe contact the place you’re getting financial aid from and ask them? oh and yes, once you’re legally an adult you can go to college without your parents signing anything… Sorry I cant be more help

Answer #4

you need your parents tax info for FASA, your parents probably don’t have the money to send you through medical school and you cant be mad at them for that.

Answer #5

If you’re under 21 they have to help you pay for college. there’s a parent loan & if they dont pay it then they get taken to jail. college is shitty because they dont take into consideration the fact that some kids are paying for college by themselves [like I am] so financial aid is still based off your parent’s income & not your own. You can’t get any financial aid from schools until you fill out a FAFSA and TAP or PELL. They won’t even look at any other ways to help you pay unless you fill those out and you need your parent’s tax info for that. Hope that helps

Answer #6

You are going to need your parents taxes, because even if you were to work you would not have much of an income by next tax season to show you are independent. You can ask your guidance counselor about scholarships and grants that can cover your tuition, since your grades are up there they should have something. Tuitions these days have went up and I was in the same situation a couple of years ago, and when I became of age, I signed myself into school. I just finished 2 weeks ago, so good luck.
