Should I go to college or university?

Ok I am a 12 year high school student. I first wanted to go to University for engineering, but I decided I wanted to go into the trade. Now I’m in my 12th year and I’ve been turned down by 4 employers for an apprenticeship in the trade, 3 out of the 4 said I don’t fit what they are looking for and I’m more suited for University. I have been talking to a lot of people and have been getting a lot of advice on what I should do. So here’s my problem collage level material is very boring to me and I get high 80’s and low 90’s in it, and it’s not challenging at all and I’m afraid if I go into the trade I will be bored, but I love working with my hands and problem solving. I also would like to take the challenging road of University and become a engineer, I would need to take a 5th year of high school but I am ok with that. Every one is saying go to University, or go to collage… I just don’t know what to do. My whole family thinks I am off to collage and I don’t want to say anything about my problem until I have reached a decision.

I am not asking for your advice on what I should do, it is in the end my decision. I would like your opinion on what you would do, I like both jobs an Electrician and Electrical Engineer. Both career’s I would be fine going into and I know they are two different paths to take but I am at a crossroad right now and I dont know if I should take the easy road or the hard road.

the difference between college and university is simple:

college is hands on and theory university will be all theory if you don’t know what I mean by theory it’s when you do things you find out why you are doing it (ex.- you know that plants need water but why, how, when, where are the in depth things that you will learn from the theory)

if you like working with your hands then college will be better for you..however there are some colleges that have a university connection…

If they do it would be like you go to college for say one year, you do hands on plus theory there. When that year is done you would go to the connecting university and take the course again but this time it will only be the theory. You don’t have to take a connecting university course if you don’t want to but it can help you get a bigger more important title with the job you will be doing.

to me college and unversity are the same thing but I know that in different place they are different and university is harder to get into. I would def try a university but apply to both and them go from there. good luck!
