Would the e-cig be safe for someone to smoke who is in the hospital and on dialysis?

Answer #1

any smoking isn’t healthy. even second-hand smoke is dangerous and kills people who don’t touch cigarettes and it’s worse for someone who’s in the hospital to consider smoking and everything.

Answer #2

Its not a bad idea. Especially if they are having nicotine withdraws. Its water vapor and nicotine, making it a level of safer, but not healthy. I bought one for my boyfriends cousin because he wanted to quit, and with this you can slowly lower the ammount of nicotine per carterage and actually can help you quit. So if this person means a lot to you, I would say yes, because it would help them quit at a tolerable level. However I do not know the rules of being on dialysis.

Answer #3

I would not advise it. All e-cigs do is give out nicotine in a water vapor form. E-cigs are also not regulated by the FDA and there is no way to tell the concentration of the nicotine those e-cigs deliver. They could very well be delivering dangerous amounts of nicotine. Nicotine is not good for those with renal failure due to the decreased ability or inability to properly filter the blood.

Answer #4

In my opinion its alot safer than smokeing an actually ciggerate !!

Answer #5

That is actually inaccurate. These days they have ones where you can specify the the miligrams of nicotine in per cigerette. Some have “light medium and dark” in a same referance to normal nicotine.

Answer #7

True, but in many cases in order to keep track of your intake, you’d have to be aware of the number of drags you take. That’s a little tedious. Not many people even realize that nicotine at very high dosages can be dangerous. I remember having to do a survey among smokers for an undergrad cancer causes and prevention class. A staggering 73% of the people thought the cigarettes were only harmful due to the carcinogenic additives. Granted, the people who were surveyed may not have been a representative sample of society, but I still think that percentage speaks volumes on the knowledge and myths of smoking. So these 365 people could very well purchase an e cigarette not realizing that they need to account for dosage. Nicotine at ANY dose is not recommended for people with renal failure, as the amounts will build up due to the lack of functioning of the kidneys.
