What is the relationship between church and state? Do you agree with that relationship? Why? Why not? Should there be a separation between church and State?
I currently see that America's church and state are too much intertwined. We have too many public policies based on religious law and religion is being talked about way too much by candidates in defiance of our Constitution's guarantee that no religious test shall be required for office.
I do not agree with the relationship as it stands. I believe this intermingling of church and state is very unhealthy for both. Church and state can only prosper when both are free to govern themselves without undue interference from each other. I stand with Madison and Jefferson supporting the wall of separation - a wall that, quite naturally, works both ways.
I think there should be separation of church and state, simply because how do you pick which church to integrate into state?
We are a very diverse country, and we should be respectful of people's varying views.
Can you imagine how much time we'd waste if each religion in America had a prominent role in the government?
what relationship do you see between them?
