Chinchillas or Guinea Pigs?

So I went to Petsmart or Petco the other day and saw these little furballs and OH MY GOD THEY ARE SO CUTE.

So what I’m wondering is… WHICH ONE TO GET?

How are they like [are they boring like rabbits or more interesting like at least a cat] ???

I don’t want to spend a bunch of money on some boring pets that are only nice to watch.

Oh and are they “pett-able” Would they bite you like hamsters would???

And if I let them roam in my backyard for a little bit will they run away and be hard to catch?

& how much are they suppose to cost? At the store, it’s around 50$ for the guinea pig and 150$ for the chinchilla…

I don’t want to get ripped off.

Thanks =D

A ginnie pig. I heard they good pets and I’m getting two soon.

Answer #2

Chinchillas cost a lot!!! Guinea pigs dont. But also Chinchillas scream really loudly at night and during the day its so anoying!!! So go with a Guinea pig!!!

Answer #3

well chinchillas are cute but the poop like every sec. and they cost a lot but there really cute and they live along time with the proper care. I have two guinea pigs which are alson cute but they eat lke crazy and there cheaper , so if I were you I would just try a guinea pig . because there easier and they cost less

Answer #4

I take that chinchilla and put it on a coat and sell it

Answer #5

I have had two chinchilla and you cant get them wet they will get sick and they need a dust bath once a week very messy the dust bath that is I had to give my two up. I know have my third Ginnie pig the other two passed away when I was a kid so its nice to have another small animal she is very easy to tame and friendly and likes to butt her head at me when I pet her she also likes to purr its so cute.

Answer #6

chinchilla. simply watching a chinchilla provides hours of entertainment. and watching it take a dust bath? dont get me started. absolutely captivating. let’s face it, you will get attached to this animal. chins are known to live between 18 and 25 years while stupid guinea pigs can only live up to 10. lame. plus chinchillas have the softest coat in the animal kingdom. think I am joking? I’m not. and you should stop joking around and get a chinchilla. CHINNYYY

Answer #7

guinea pig. you cant let chins out in your yard. they are escape artists and you’ll not get him back. guineas also like cuddles. chins don’t - that might be a factor you need to consider.

Answer #8

I think you should get a guinea pig. They are eaiser to take care of and love to be cuddled! If you still dont know there is a breed of guinea pig called the chinchilla breed so they look like a chinchilla! I have one and she is very tame and loveable. Guinea pigs are cheaper and dont need as much attention as a chinchilla. Chinchillas may be a bit more interesting than a guinea pig but guinea pigs will cuddle with you. In my opinion I would get the guinea pig but its your choice!

Answer #9

I have both. and I love them both. chinchillas are very playful while guinea pigs are calm and love to cuddle. also chinchillas you have to train in a way to gain their trust. it is a very rewarding process. guinea pigs are good companions if you just want to chill together and watch tv or read a book. they like to curl up on your chest right under your chin. they love to be pet and brushed and love to eat carrots. the chinchilla has a giant sized hamster ball and she runs around in it and loves it. she and my dog play together when she is in it. also when getting a chinchilla out of their cage you have to be careful because if you pull their fur it can fall out. it doesnt hurt them but may leave a bald spot. both can be costly pets. chinchillas require a much larger cage than guinea pigs but guinea pigs cages must be cleaned more frequently. both animals run the risk of getting sick when wet. but I cant tell you which to pick just give you some basic info on both. they both require bedding hay food and love. both are amazing and entertaining. I hope I helped some. wish I could tell you more but it may turn into a novel.

Answer #10

I’d probably get a chinchilla, just because they’re gorgeous!

However, if you’re looking for something playful and loving, I’d really go for a cat. Sure, they’re a lot more common than pet rabbits or chinchillas, but they are almost guaranteed to be more fun, easily adaptable, and they often show such wonderful personalities.

Answer #11

I have a friend who got a guinea pig…they tame so easily, and are actually very affectionate…I was surprised!! Why not a ferret? They are cute, funny, full of personality, and affectionate, too…kind of inbetween a cat and a piggy…

Answer #12

id go for guinea pig, because chincillas cant get wet or they die, so you have to give them dirt baths, guinea pigs you can take for a walk on a leash, some can get pretty big, and they are VERY loveable, my guinea pig just died after 9 fun filled years

chinchillas are way more soft but bite a lot more guiney pigs are nicer but this is MY opinion
