Getting electrocuted when using a cell phone that is charging?

Has anyone heard of someone getting electrocuted when using a cell phone that is charging? Some one just told me of someone that did but I’m not sure if it is true or not. the person supposedly died.

Answer #1

no, just don’t stand in water or jump in the pool with it plugged in, common sense.

Here’s a helpful website: check out snopes.com They basically fact-check all the junk email, forwards, rumors, chain mail, whatever for you. Snopes.com says this is FALSE. Nobody has ever died from being electrocuted by a charging cell phone.

Answer #3

If you are going to link to snopes, at least read the article first. The article says ONE person has died this way, not zero.

This was most likely caused by a manufacturing defect, however, and had nothing to do with the fact that he answered the phone while it was charging.

Answer #4

I did read the article, I just misread it, lol. For some reason I took the article as meaning that one person had died of a battery explosion- and not being electrocuted. I’m not sure why I took it that way, as it doesn’t even indicate that when I re-read it. Oh well- I still stand by what I said about Snopes being a helpful website, at least. :)

Answer #5

That’s impossible. The box that plugs into the wall converts the outlet voltage to battery voltage. So the wire going to the phone is battery low voltage.
