What is a catalyst that could convert carbon dioxide into oxygen other than Platinum? I'm doing research on something and I almost figured it out but this is the last part I need but I just cant quite find it. Any ideas? Thanks!
Are you talking about Platinum catalytic converters? They dont change C02 into 02... they combine (or speed up the reaction, whatever) of carbon monoxide with oxygen into C02... (it's the exact opposite of the reaction you're talking about)
I found this, it doesnt really go into detail about the catalyst that is used to break C02 into 02, something about a N2 based catalyst http://biomimicry.typepad.com/clippings/2007/03/catalystcould.html
catalyst increases the number of succesful collisions ... a catalyst its a substance that increases and makes the reaction faster .. without a catalyst the reaction will be to slow to take place ...
thats what my teacher told me 2dayy lol
also the main purope of a catalyst its to provide a surface area for the reactants so that these succesful collisions can take place..
hope I helped
If you find one, let us know - after you file a patent for it. Catalytic converters use platinum, and anyone who can figure out a cheaper catalyst will make millions.
