How do I pick a career?

How do I know what career is good for me for the future?

Answer #1

There are tests that you can take at your local community college that can suggest what areas you may suceed the most in.

Personally - LOL I started off as a Computer Forensics student and then just decided one day that I’ve been with a pharm company for awhile, and why not become a pharmacist.

And honestly - I love it. But thats me. You need to do a lot of soul searching and determine what really makes you happy. What do you enjoy. And if you enjoy it - could you see yourself working in that area every day for the rest of your life?

My answer with Pharm - yes. I enjoy science and the knowledge I hold, so it works for me.

I would ask trusted adult friends / relatives would they recommend their career field - why - what courses should I take to prepare for that career - can I intern, possible come and observe them on the job - another idea, just look through the yellow pages at different careers and jot down a list that might interest you - the real key is finding something you Love - one where you would show up even if they didn’t pay you - rewarding - I found such a career in air traffic control…I wish you every success !!

im not settled on mine anyway. :| My mother tells me I need to so we can start looking at colleges.

_> She keeps suggesting I be a doctor, I don’t know. I guess it depends how old you are, and how fast you need to find out. if your a teen ager, I suggest a fast food restraint at the moment.

The average person goes through a few career changes in their lifetime before finally settling down with the one that suits them best.

Set out to do something you enjoy. You might find later on that it isn’t the right choice for you, but it’s never too late to try again.

I went from forensics, to marketing, to chef and I’m still not entirely sure this is where I’m meant to be.

In the end, you have to be passionate about what you do. If it stops being fun, it’s time for a change.
