Well... if I am referring to my own parents... in a written piece of work (it has to be very grammatically correct), do I CAPITALISE, the Mum and Dad, or just keep it as mum and dad.
Any help would be good... thanks =D
If the word is used with out a modifier, then it is a title / name and should be capitalized. A proper noun is a noun which names a specific person, place, or thing and in this case 'Mom" refers to a specific mother
If I am talking about mothers and I want to use an example of a mother, then my mother would be Mother. It is her name in this case.
from .us/manualofformandstyle/capitalization Capitalize the title of a relative only when it is followed by the relative’s name. I saw Uncle Harry talking to Aunt Rose. I saw my uncle talking to my aunt.
NOTE: Words like mother, father, dad, and grandmother are capitalized when they are used alone in place of a particular person’s name.
At least that is in the US. UK style manual may be different.
if you 100% INSIST on using "mum && dad" then do it like diss :
my mum, or my dad
'Mum, where are you?'
'Dad, where are you?'
so lowercse when its like my mum is pretty && capitall like mum wheree are youuuor somethinnn kay ??? lol.
If referring to YOUR mum and dad specifically, you should capitalize it.
nope never use mom and dad Mother and Father (:
No, 'mum' and 'dad' are improper nouns.
