Canadian Status Card

My daughter’s boyfriend is an Ontario Status Native, and he asked me a question I couldn’t answer, so I’m hoping maybe someone here knows (any Québecois in the room?).

He was wondering if his status card is accepted in Quebec as it is here. I assume it would be, since the status is a Canadian thing - federal, not provincial, as well as I’m aware, but I’m not positive. It would be helpful to know, since we live on the Quebec border, and we shop there often when they come to visit.

I am a 1/4 native and I live in Montreal but I have no idea how to get my native status card please enlighten me?

Answer #2

Yeah it’s fine, I use to live in Montreal. The only thing is the provincial insurance. My old girlfriend use to live in MTL and then moved out to Whistler BC for a while, so she got rid of her QC card, and came back with BC just fine, but she couldn’t get her insurance back for 3 months until her QC card was re-approved.

I asked my friend (who is a Status Native) and he believes the same thing, it’s a federal deal, not provincial, although he was not positive.

Answer #4

Well, that’s 2 people with the same perspective…it helps…thank you :)
