Can you really buy people ?

In the news I saw that it was possible to buy women to be wives in some country like Cambodia or something, some of the women are happy where they are because they say that I would have been worst but mostly say that they were beaten and force to have sex and I also heard that for those that are not in the area they could ship the women to them in whatever country they are. Why doesnt the women just run away if they are being beaten like that I mean there , are a lot of poeple that could help like women rights group why do they still keep quite ?

Yeah I think a lot of mail order brides do it to get out of their country.

It’s not always as simple as “running away”.

We’re fortunate to be living where we are, but some places don’t treat women with the same rights that we have.

There are “mail order brides”, and most of them see it as getting a whole new chance at life.

There is a difference between a mail order brides (legitimate ones at least) and slavery… and yes slavery goes on through out the world… including the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and other developed countries. Usually women are shipped over from countries in Asia, Eastern Europe, though occasionally they have been known to kidnap women from the west… Of course people are working on it, but it isnt easy to get these women out. They’re not just threatened with death, but also death or harm coming to their families…

My friend ordered a “Mail Order Bride” - she is a wonderful woman and was completely happy to have the chance to come to this country and have a new life and opportunities. Although, he treats her very well and they have grown to love each other. I don’t see a problem with what he did at all.
